Legendary voice of The Beau Brummels and Stoneground returns with dynamite, new ensemble!
In 1964, the world was deluged by a flood of mind-altering variations on a relatively new theme
called Rock and Roll. The Beau Brummels, led by the rich, moody vocals of superlative, front man,
Sal Valentino, exploded on the music scene with the Top 20 hit “Laugh, Laugh”. Considered the first
American band to respond to The British Invasion and, ironically, pioneer Country-Rock music, went
on to release such classic top 40 hits as “Just A Little”, “Don’t Talk to Strangers” and “You Tell
Me Why.”
As the British Invasion evolved into a whole new era of psychedelia, The Beau Brummels decided it
was time to pursue their separate musical muses with Sal Valentino going on to lead the big-band,
musical experience know as Stoneground. From 1969 to 1973, this ten piece group toured extensively
throughout the U.S. and Europe, gaining critical success with their high-energy material and
outstanding harmonies.
But this is the 21st Century, and today, Sal Valentino is back sounding better than ever.
Sal’s rich and haunting voice is one of the most recognizable in music, prompting Ritchie
Unterberger, critic for The Rolling Stone and All Music Guide to claim; “Sal Valentino owns one of
the finest voices in mid-60s Rock and Roll.”
Currently fronting The Sal Valentino Band, (featuring percussionist extraordinaire, Steve Price
of Pablo Cruise) Sal has taken his 40 years of musical experience and crafted an incredibly unique,
new sound featuring re-worked versions of his biggest hits and powerful interpretations of some of
the greatest tunes in the history of music.
Now living in Sacramento, Sal has been working closely with 2003 CAMA award winner, Jackie Greene
and is playing in a variety of local venues across the North Valley. Most recently, Sal Valentino
and a group of his musical friends, including Jackie Greene, recorded a nationally distributed
tribute to Bob Dylan; “Positively 12th & K” which has received attention across the country and
features the first legitimate recordings by Sal in over 25 years!
Sal’s ability to craft great songs into a uniquely individual experience as well as drawing on his
huge reservoir of classic Beau Brummels and Stoneground hits make his performances compelling, and
sometimes nostalgic ventures into that rare place that only the great vocalists of our times dare
to go.
